Preface: I thought this post apropos in light of the social and sports media frenzy over the trade of NFL defensive end/linebacker Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers this week.
You’re not “loyal.”
You’re not “part of the team.”
You’re a grown adult screaming over strangers in uniforms who don’t know you exist.
Sports aren’t pure competition anymore. They’re content.
Your “ride-or-die” franchise? It’s a corporate brand that would trade every player you idolize or relocate your entire team tomorrow if the tax breaks were better.
That “loyalty” you bleed for is literally just marketing strategy.
And yet, here you are, spending your paycheck on jerseys, foam fingers, and overpriced tickets so you can watch millionaires play a children’s game while you scream like your life depends on it.
You’re not a warrior. You’re a consumer.
You’re not repping your city. You’re paying rent to billionaires to feel like you belong.
Stop pretending your team’s win is your win.
You didn’t train, you didn’t score, and you didn’t get a ring. You just yelled at a TV and bought another beer.
The only thing you’re winning is a lighter bank account and a higher blood pressure.
Sports are entertainment.
That’s fine. Watch it, enjoy it, talk stats if you’re into it.
But worshipping a logo?
Fighting strangers in parking lots over a corporate mascot?
Crying over trades like you’re part of the locker room?
That’s clown behavior.🤡
Your team doesn’t love you. It loves your money.
The sooner you accept that, the sooner you’ll stop embarrassing yourself over millionaires in tights throwing balls for ad revenue.
